| Overbecks is a wonderful National Trust garden. It is well worth a walk around, the entry fee is £6 per adult. They have their own website (part of the NT website of course) which is http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-overbecks. Check this site for opening times, since it's not all winter and the house may be closed even though the gardens are open. We were not allowed to photograph the inside of the house, which contains some interesting furniture, which seems a shame since there are no pictures on their own website either. Such is life. You can pay an additional £3 for a booklet; the gift shop is better than an average gift shop, and we didn't test the cafe although it looks spacious and nice. Access around the garden is fairly bad for wheelchairs, and be prepared to carry a chirlden's buggy as well. The flowers are beautiful, the garden is superbly kept, and the views are magnificent. After seeing all you can see (about 40 minutes to 1 hour for an average non-gardener) talk a walk further up the hill, 15 minutes, and come out on the cliff top. The views are even better. |
